How they work

Introduction

There are 2 types of window frames.

Metal Window Frames
Plastic Window frames with 3M mounts

Snap Shades have magnets built into the frame and snap onto metal frames without any additional hardware. For plastic window frames, you will be provided with 3M mounts. These mounts are attached to the interior trim with double sided 3M automotive tape. These mounts do not damage your interior nor will it cause fading of interior over time.

For vehicles with metal window frames please check out our installation video. Each Snap Shade has been designed unique to each vehicle therefore installation may slightly differ.

Plastic Window Frame installation guide

Our 3M mount system for plastic frames are easy to install and are removable. They are specifically designed to not damage your interior trim or leave any staining or residue behind.

If the Snap Shade product description for you model states mounts are required or/and in the product title there is an asterisk * at the end, you have a plastic window frame. Each Snap Shade is unique to each vehicle and installation may vary, please refer to the installation guide provided with your purchase for further information or contact us if you require further assistance.

How to remove the 3M mount

In the situation where you want to remove the 3M mount because you maybe selling/changing vehicles, please follow the instructions below.

Use a hair dryer to gradually heat up the 3M mount, this will soften the adhesive allowing you to slowly twist the 3M mount loose. This should be done gradually while gradually increasing the heat when necessary. The 3M mount adhesive is specifically designed to not leave any residue on the surface or cause any staining on the trim. Please avoid excessive direct heat and do not use a heat gun. It is not necessary to heat up the surface more than it would during a hot summer’s day.

Our custom sun shades have a triple laminate construction with a foam core centre that acts as an insulator, a reflective layer on the outside, soft felt backing on the inner side and are finished with a stylish black binding. The unique internal foam core provides superior insulation as well as preventing the sun shade from falling when in use. Our custom sun shades also retain its shape and rigidity after use. No more flimsy, wrinkled looking sun shades.

The folding design of our custom sun shades allows them to be installed in seconds and easily collapsible when not in use for compact storage in the complimentary storage bag provided.
