How do Snap Shades work?

How to install Snap Shades on a metal frame

  1. Slide the base of the Snap Shade to the bottom of the window frame
  2. While holding the base in place, grab the free end of the Snap Shade and place at the top of the door frame
  3. Ensure there is contact between the embedded magnets and the metal door frame.

How to install Snap Shades on a plastic or rubber trimmed frame

This guide applies to vehicles that have a asterisks (*) marked at the end of the model/make/year product page such as the Ford Explorer.

  1. Clean door surfaces around window and allow 5 minutes to dry.
  2. Locate magnet attaching points on shade, place shade in place. (Hint: you can open the window to check spacing to see if your shade is straightly aligned.)
  3. Mark location of magnet mounting points, peel off adhesive tape on magnet mounts and stick onto the marked position.
  4. Align the top of the magnets with the metal frame of the door and let it snap firmly.
  5. Align the bottom of the shade with the bottom of the frame and let the sides of the shade to snap firmly

Please note:

Fold the shades in the opposite direction to straighten the shade (the shades may have been folded in transit).

How do I determine if my window plastic or metal?

If the inside of your window frame is the same color as your car, it is most likely to be a metal frame. On the photo of the right, you can see the Snap Shade installed in/on the window frame that is white.

If you have any magnets at home, you can use those to see if it magnetises to the window frame.

In the next photo, you can see the window frame is made out of a grey/black plastic. For these window frames, 3M Mounts are required.

Magnets will not stick to the frame of these cars, which you can test at home.

You can also determine if you need 3M mounts if the Snap Shades page has an asterisks (*) at the end of the name. Please see the image on the right circled in red.
